Technique Tuesday~Bali Batik

I get a lot of questions regarding "How do you do that?" So each Tuesday I will be showing you some techniques...let me know what you think? This week...a little technique I came up with I call Bali Batik...

How did I do this???

1. Decide on your color scheme.
2. Stamp your image in VersaMark Ink on Whisper White paper and then heat emboss with clear embossing powder. Be sure to leave space between your images for a second layer of the same.
3. Spray your entire piece of paper with water to moisten. Now add a few drops of one color of re-inker. You will have areas of darker and lighter color. Heat your paper with your heat tool or let it dry overnight.
4. When dry, crumple, gently fold and crease the paper as little or as much as you desire. The more you break the surface of the paper, the more crinkles, the more variation and texture your final piece will have.
5. Now hold the paper so the folds and cracks are accessible to rub with an inked sponge. Use a different color than your re-inker drops. You want to really brink out the folds and cracks.
6. Now stamp your image in the same color as your sponging. Stamp in the spaces left open from stamping at the beginning. Heat your paper to dry completely.
7. Stamp a few more images in VersaMark ink and emboss with clear embossing powder. Now rub over the last layer embossed with a sponge using the first re-inker color. Rub in circles concentrating on the last images embossed.
8. Now over stamp the entire paper with the outline image that co-ordinates with your solid image. Use a papertowel to buff off any excess ink that is on the embossed areas.
9. Use on your projects as desired. (This technique works best with Two-Step Stampin' Sets)

If you notice I made a little sample scrapbook page for this technique...I have several scrapbooks full of 6 x 6 pages. If I ever need some inspiration I can visit the technique books on my shelf...

Happy Monday!!! I am back...

Hope you had a great spring break...if you got to take one. Our family went to Big Cedar in Branson Missouri...but on to stamping. I have been hording some swaps. Do you love the Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set? Here are some too elegant samples...
I did not get much stamping done this week (I had big plans...but oh well, I did get to stamp on Saturday at a fun little gathering of Stampin' sisters and that was FAB. More details and samples to come.) But did get a lot of relaxing in and no fishing, darn, NOT!

Gone fishing...

I don't fish and have bad memories of spending hours board-out-of-my-mind as a child! I am just not a sit-still-and-wait-kind-of-girl...LOL.

You may have noticed I have been making some small changes to the site, just to warn you I am working on some more. I am not sure that it might have some issues for the next few days.

Have a great Saturday. Are you ready for Spring Break! James is set. We are off to hang out with family and take a trip to Branson this week. I get to stamp with my cousin Jessica! Mom has the whole week planned out. Wish for warm weather so we can get out in the Ozark Woods and get a little exercise too. SO excited...off to pack.

I was looking through my samples and swaps and kept coming back to this card...

Lovely yes. What a great layout with balance and repetition. I C.A.S.E.ed the card...meaning just what I want you to do...Copy And Share Everything. Stamping and art for that matter has a lot to do with taking something you see and creating something new...so here is my version.
 
This will be my dad's birthday card this year. He is really into flowers but I wanted the card to still be manly. What do you think? The colors are from KWernerDesign.com...here is the color inspiration for this week. The patterned paper is from the up-coming Spring Mini-Catalog...it is called Walk in the Park and we have stamps & rub-ons that coordinate with it...stay tuned. Thanks Christy & Kristina.
