New Year's Eve Step-By-Step Leadership Lantern Tutorial

These are so fun and easy to make. What a fun project to get ready for a Chinese New Year Party...be sure to use flameless candles if you want to light them up...

Cut your paper to 6 x 9".

Score long edges at 1/2".

Fold back with bone folder to create bands at top and bottom of lantern. Secure with SNAIL adhesive.

Switch to cutting blade, and cut every 3/4" to create lantern side slits.

Create handle with scrap using 2 1/4 x 6" strip. Score and fold into thirds at 3/4 & 1 1/2". Secure with SNAIL adhesive.

Curve edges around and secure with sticky strip to create lantern body.

Punch hole thru handle and side of lantern to attach handle with brads. Decorate with punched accents, brads, flowers, etc.

Here is a wonderful little project from January 2008, Palm Springs, California...Leadership Trip. This is an annual Stampin' Up! Training Event. It is smaller and more business focused than Regional Seminars and Convention. It is by far one of the highlights of my year...I thought I would make a newer version of this lantern they presented. Here is my creation...

Goodies Used: Raspberry Tart Designer Paper (Sneak-Peak 2009 Spring/Summer Catalog), Flower Fusion Too, Basics Brads, Flower Trio, 1" & 1/16" Circle Punches, Paper Trimmer (Cutter & Score Blades), Bone Folder, Crafters Tool Kit, Sticky Strip.

Love You Much Bundle and Template Options...

Do you ever feel like you want to make a card, but don't have a lot of time or are not feeling very "creative"? Well let me show you what a template can do for you. Here is a simple template.

Here are two cards with even the same stamp set...

Here is a detail of the first card. Used the uni-ball Signo White Gel Pen inside the word love. Used a gold brad and the Trio Flower Punch on both cards for a fun accent. I used Encore Gold Ink embossed with Gold Embossing Powder on both cards with Brushed Gold paper.

Diana's Scrap Saturday Layout Challenge #5

Today was such a wonderful treat. A whole day scrapin' with my cousin Jessica. (She lives in Dallas and I only get to see her maybe once a year.) It was great to just hang out all day, pretty much just the two of us. (I was nervous of the weather, but I made it home with no ice or snow on the roads. We only ended the day with lots of rain and an inch or so of snow.) So here is the page for today, tonight...are mom and dad too cute or what?

Love You Much Bundle Mini-Trio

Hope you like my Mini-Trio of Love You Much Cards. Are you loving this stamp set or what? And at 20% Off who wouldn't? Did some embossing. Not so sure you can see all the detail so there are some close-up shots too. I used all parts of the Bundle and few extras.

Here is a close-up of each card in the trio.

I used the VersaMarker inside the word and leaf for this one...cute? I also added and extra layer behind the punched small heart. Yes, cut free-hand. The punched little heart was just not quite big enough to cover the little flower in the stamped image.

Scallop Circle Punch and 1 1/4" Circle Punch with uni-ball Signo White Gel Pen. The center heart is cut out with Paper Snips and popped-up with a Stampin' Dimensional. I stamped the image three time and embossed Encore Gold Ink with Gold Embossing Powder and punched and cut to get the layers.

Other supplies and colors. Pretty in Pink, Close to Cocoa, Real Red, Chocolate Chip, and Brushed Gold Papers. Other Punches include Small and Large Ovals.

Merry Christmas...Love You Much Gift Idea.

Enjoy this project and how-to pictures. Merry Christmas to you and yours. (This is another fun reason to join my team, this was one of the Make & Take Projects from our November get together.)

Hope the pictures help. I used 12 x12 paper cut down to 6 x 8, then make your handle from the scrap. I LOVE Craft ink as many of you know. This is Chocolate Chip paper with Chocolate Chip Craft Ink. I cut the little birds out of Designer Series paper. Ribbon is Riding Hood Red Taffeta. Land-O-Lakes is my favorite Cocoa. I have seen many cocoa holder cards but none fit my favorite, so I just had to come up with this solution. Add coffee and Bailey's instead of water and you have a real "grown-up" sweet treat.

Is he too cute or what...a few years older now. Used Real Red, Pink Pirouette, Pretty in Pink and Whisper White. 

Here is the detail of the Stamp, Embossed Real Red Craft Ink with Iridescent Ice Ebossing Powder and colored with Pretty in Pink Marker. Cut out the center heart and raised up with Stampin' Dimensional.
